about the novel

In 1912, twenty-year-old Beatrice Seaver, yearning for independence, embarks on a journey to England, temporarily escaping her parents' marriage plans and the prospect of a life with the arrogant George Richter. Finding comfort and companionship with her cousin Michael in the charming Hampshire countryside, Beatrice's worries fade.

As her vacation nears its end, a thrilling opportunity arises: a return voyage on the gorgeous RMS Titanic, alongside her aunt, uncle, and cousin. Maylia Baird started writing the ship of dreams when she was 14. Now at 19 she’s living out her dream of finally being published. She’s inspired to write by historical events that she loves.
